Owner, Funeral Home General Manager and Crematory Manager
Duffy comes from a five-generation funeral industry family and has been in the funeral industry for 28 years. He spent the last five years (2016-2020) as Partner and operator of Windsor Healdsburg Crematory & Mortuary. Duffy is proud to have his grandfather, aunt and second cousins as his professional mentors who taught him about the funeral industry. Growing up, he wanted to be either a Police Officer or Fire Fighter- or a race car driver. Since his racing career was short lived and he didn’t want to wear a bulletproof vest every day to work, he decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and enter the funeral industry. He is proud to be a Cardinal Newman graduate and has a diploma and degree in Mortuary Science from the prestigious, San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He was the tenth person in his family to attend the college and received his degree with the last graduating class before the mortuary college closed its doors and moved to Sacramento. He is a California State Licensed Embalmer, Funeral Director, Crematory Manager, Life Insurance Agent, and Notary Public.
The strangest request asked of Duffy was when someone asked if their loved one could be buried with their favorite automobile. He went on to say some of the most fascinating aspects of the job are: offering a grieving family one last opportunity to see and say goodbye to their loved one; the gratifying feeling being a pillar of support to someone (or a family in need) and helping the family navigate through the grieving process. His motivation stems from his family pride and having the opportunity to continue his grandfather’s legacy in this amazing vocation. In his spare time, Duffy enjoys spending time and creating memories with his wife and kids, playing ice hockey, fishing, camping, hunting, following most local professional sports teams and volunteering his time coaching his kids’ various sports teams. When asked for an example of his biggest personal accomplishments he said, “Workwise, I have dealt with some amazing families that have chosen to share some very difficult times with me over the years. It’s hard to pick only one proud moment out of all the families I’ve served… Personally, I would have to say my family- my marriage to my wife and the birth of my children are my most proud accomplishment. They are amazing to offer unconditional support and love.”
