Paul Cross passed away on June 15, 2020 at the Veterans Home, Yountville. He was 90. He had been a member of the Yountville Home since 2013. He was born on November 30, 1929 in San Diego to Georgia and Ray Cross. The family remained in San Diego until Paul was 12 when the family moved to San Francisco. After graduating high school, Paul became part of the Army Transport Service as a Navigator. Then after two years, he joined the Coast Guard and continued as a navigator in Japan and China. His ship took part in the China Invasion.
Paul returned to the states after 3 years in the Coast Guard and pursued his AA Degree at City College, San Francisco. His degree was in surveying and mapping. He worked as a surveyor for the Division of Highways (now CalTran) for several years. Eventually, after caring for his mother for a few years, then became a rancher with his brother and sister-in-law in the back country of Mt. Hamilton and later in Hollister, California.
Paul enjoyed hunting, reading and he was a people person, enjoying being around people.
He is survived by his brother, Earl, wife Gara and distant relatives.
He will be buried in the Veterans Home Cemetery at Yountville.
