Douglas B. Kelly, 78, died on November 28, 2021, at the Veterans Home in Yountville. He had been a member of the Veterans Home since 2015. He was born May 6, 1943, in San Francisco to Elaine and Belmont Kelly. He and his twin were the oldest of 5 siblings. During his formative years, he lived with his parents between San Francisco and Sacramento. Later he took permanent residence with his grandmother in San Francisco.
He entered the US Marine Corps in 1960 to 1963. He was in Camp Pendleton, Okinawa and Bangkok. He was a Machine Gunner. After the military, he became a horse trainer for 30 years. He also lived
and worked in Mexico Nicaragus and Honduras through his working years.
While at the Veterans Home, he enjoys listening to classical music as well as Italian Opera. He once enjoyed mountain climbing and taking courses on-line and in a classroom.
He is survived by five siblings (including a twin brother) and another set of younger twins, and his sister, Karen. He is also survived by three children, Shandra, Jimmy and Crystal; his niece, Kimberly.
Private inurnment at the Veterans Home Cemetery in Yountville. Services entrusted to CONNEELY Family Cremation & Funeral Services.
