Dorothy Jean Garrison

March 5, 1939 ~ July 26, 2020 (age 81)


Dorothy Jean Garrison, born, Dorothy Jean Brooner to Evelyn and William R. Brooner in Marion, Kansas March 5, 1939, passed away with her loving family by her side, July 26th 2020. Dorothy, her 5 siblings, Billie, Harry, Maxine, Karen, and Robert moved to California when World War II came to an end in 1945 with their parents and not long after her youngest and truly adored littlest brother Eddie was born. The family worked hard for a living and valued family most of all.


In 1960 Dorothy married the love of her life, Warren, and they raised 4 adoring children. Dorothy went to Psychiatric Technician School and ultimately gained employment for the state of California at what was Sonoma State Hospital but later referred to as Sonoma Developmental Center. Dorothy enjoyed her clients very much, in those days she could bring clients home to let them spend time with the family and have meals, she loved everyone no matter where they came from. Dorothy retired with close to 50 years of State service.


Dorothy and Warren enjoyed retirement life together; they traveled all over the world as well as in their motor home together. The joys of her life were her grandchildren and later on her great grandchildren whom she spent countless hours with.


Dorothy is preceded into death by her sweetheart Warren, infant daughter Robin, Daughter Jennifer, sisters Billlie, and Karen, and her baby brothers Robert and Eddie.


Survived by her loving children, Thomas Garrison, Jeffery Garrison (Kim), and Crystal Garrison, adoring grandchildren, Branden Garrison, Adrienne Garrison, Alexis Garrison, Amanda Charkins, Warren Kelsay, and Kaprice Kelsay, great grandchildren, Audrey Garrison and Isaiah Charkins, she also had numerous bonus grandchildren whom she considered her family, Dorothy is also survived by her oldest brother Harry Brooner, whom the last 5 years was her side kick and traveling partner and her oldest sister Maxine Pierce (Bob) that Dorothy enjoyed face timing with as well as traveling up to Oregon to spend time on the river. She was a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews as well as many cousins, Dorothy is also survived by an abundance of close friends whom she considered family.

The Garrison Family Matriarch will be dearly missed and always loved.
