Obituary

Garcia, Dana D., 63, died as a result of a tragic accident in Sacramento, CA on April 29, 2021. Dana was born February 21, 1958 in Vallejo, CA to Edward Garcia and Alberta Craib. He was a native of Sonoma Valley and the youngest surviving boy of nine siblings. He attended local schools and graduated from Sonoma Valley High School with the class of 1976. He spent a short time in the United States Marine Corps after high school.

When he returned, Dana began his career in concrete construction. He was a master of finishing concrete and made quite a name for himself. He started his career working for Charlie Webster and eventually ended his career in 2004 with Richards Concrete, and Jerry Ellis Concrete Construction. He was extremely proud of the work he did in and around the Sonoma Valley.

Aside from concrete work, Dana’s other passion was fishing. At a young age he mastered trout fishing in the Sonoma Creek. He also enjoyed spending time keeping the creek and portions of Maxwell Village Park that surrounded it tidy and clean by picking up garbage everywhere he went. Another favorite spot he treasured was Mount Lassen National Forest, which he made it a point to visit yearly and fish Hat Creek. He was active in Valley of the Moon Little League in the 1990's coaching baseball and fall ball teams.

Dana is survived by his son, Andrew Garcia; grandson, Vincent Thornborrow; his bonus-daughter, Emily Eberhardt; his siblings: Pat Franklin, John Garcia, Steve Garcia, Mike Garcia, Rich Garcia, Kelly Henderson. He was the adored uncle of many numerous nieces, nephews and their children. He is also survived by his loving canine companion, "Dibble."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alberta Craib and Edward Garcia; his siblings: Marilyn Tassano, Eddie Garcia and Harry Garcia; and his 19-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, "Jack."
